A quick note...

Dear friends and colleagues,

I wanted to let you all know that I will be leaving The Nature Conservancy. I have taken a new position with Rio Tinto/Kennecott Utah Copper working as Sustainable Development Advisor. In this position, I will work to help implement Kennecott's sustainability initiatives - and serve as Kennecott's community representative on sustainability issues.

Mike Roberts, The Nature Conservancy’s new Director of Government and Agency Relations, will replace me as the main contact for our organization’s overall external affairs work. Many of you met Mike at the Taskforce’s August 12 meeting.

Many of you also know our project director for the Cache County area, Joan Degiorgio, who will continue to work up in Cache County on a variety of projects. Please feel free to contact Joan (jdegiorgio@tnc.org) and/or Mike (mike_roberts@tnc.org, 801-531-0999) anytime in the future with any concerns, questions, or opportunities that you would like to discuss.

Eleanor Morris, who works on critical lands campaigns for The Nature Conservancy in the west, has been helping with the Cache County campaign behind the scenes since the beginning, and she will continue to work with Shauna and Dee and the rest of the team on our behalf moving forward. We have an incredible and very capable group of folks working on this campaign, and it is in great hands. I enjoyed working with and getting to know all of you over the past few years. I am confident that there is the capacity and passion to get this bond passed. I wish you all the best!

tueday 8/`12 meeting

Hey everybody,

After much deliberation we will meet on tuesday 8/12 at 6 pm at the Juniper Take-out restaurant. location; 400 north and main, a few doors west of albertsons. we will meet in room in the back and if you desire dinner, snacks or beverage they can be ordered while we meet.

the meeting time is later to allow more people to attend. please bring new people, old people, volunteers, interested parties etc.we are in serious mode from here on out.

2. please bring a list of people you think should be contacted to endorse or help fund the campaign. Wendell Morse ,our endoresement chair, will be there to kick start endorsements.

3. we will have input from fair response

4. we should have official language decided same day by council

5. still need a few bodies for fair time. friday 3-6 and sat. 12-2 are available. Please plan on stopping by and relieving people in booth for a few minutes if possible.

6. i will have report on site visits by quality growth commision that day.

7. tpl will have their campaign business agenda also.

We need a catch phrase (brand statement ) for this campaign, in time for fair and market. Something short that expresses the worth of what this bond can do. Something people will remember. Any ideas.

i still need more help for fair. the more people the less time people have to spend!! the government employed people have to be careful because of conflict so this needs to be citizen run campaign. let me know who and when you are available and we will schedule at 8/5 meeting.

Next meeting is 8/5 at 3pm at chamber conference room.

please solicit campaign funds from every person, company or group that might be willing to help. no amount is to small. remember to get and fill out pledge form. we have 7600 so far with another 2000 possible. we need 60,000 to do this right. If everyone on this list can committ to get at least one pledge this week it will go a long way!! thx

I have reserved a booth at the cache county fair august 7,8, and 9th. the exhibit times are from 11 am to 11 pm. I don't feel we need to be there till 11 pm. i think 11 am to 7 or 8 would be sufficient. anyone willing to assist in the booth for 2-3 hours at a time, please let me know. Also we need info and brochures to hand out. any suggestions there? thx

Cache Critical Lands Conservation Campaign Endorsement and Pledge Form

Dear CLTF members:

The Cache Critical Lands Conservation Campaign is getting underway, and we need your help to raise the funds to ensure a successful campaign. We have several immediate fundraising goals for July:

$10,000 by July 15

$20,000 by July 31

The exciting news is that we have already raised $7500 so we only have $2500 to go by July 15...and then we need to raise an additional $10,000 by July 31 to reach our $20,000 goal. We need to raise close to $60,000 by October 15...so this is just the beginning!

Because you are all in the local community, it is up to each of you to help raise these funds! In order to help you in your efforts, I have attached a pledge form that you can print out and/or send to possible contributors. This form should be used by contributors with their actual pledge. Mailing information and who the check should be made out to is included on this sheet.

Please talk to your neighbors, friends, colleagues, etc.

A few things to remember as you are asking for pledges:

Please do NOT accept any gifts in cash. It’s not against the law, but it is easier for us to deal with checks and we can keep a clean record of contributions.

Contributions are NOT tax-deductible
If someone gives $200 or more we need to collect his or her Occupation and Employer. This is required by the IRS and is really to ensure that people are not being compelled against their will to contribute by someone at the company.
Foundations cannot legally contribute to a political committee. Board members, Trustees and individuals who work for foundations can contribute their own personal funds.
Shauna & Dave will be working on a thank-you note for all contributions.

Several of us will also be working on getting endorsements from businesses, key leaders in the community, etc. Please look for a follow-up email about endorsements next week.
